The Jefferson Project at Lake George
May 16, 2018
DePalma Productions takes great pride in our efforts to be a green company so we were thrilled to be part of a project whose objective is to preserve and protect one of our most important natural resources.
The Jefferson Project at Lake George, a collaboration between Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, IBM Research, and The FUND for Lake George, is a sophisticated technological approach to studying fresh water with a goal of understanding the impact of human activity and how to mitigate those effects.
When Centerline Digital was tasked by IBM to highlight the innovative work being done by the project, they brought on DePalma Productions to film all of the interviews as well as the breathtaking aerial footage of the lake and its surroundings.
In order to do justice to Lake George’s spectacular views, DePalma Productions worked with BFD Systems, whose custom drones and skilled pilots expertly met the challenge of flying one of our a full-sized cameras over the water to capture incredible panoramic shots of Lake George so key to underscoring the magnitude of the project.
The result? A beautiful and compelling audiovisual story that both educates and captivates – and illustrates the importance of securing the right partners to get the job done.
Ne-Yo Welcomes Visitors to Grammy Museum's Interactive Dance Floor
April 27, 2018
While he may have won three Grammy’s for his vocal ability, recording artist Ne-Yo is just as comfortable on the dance floor where his smooth moves have earned him roles in Stomp the Yard and Save the Last Dance 2 and a spot as a judge on NBC’s World of Dance.
Ne-Yo also has the distinction of virtually welcoming visitors to the interactive dance floor exhibit at the Grammy Museum Mississippi, thanks to a video that DePalma Productions helped create, in collaboration with Gallagher and Associates.
To make his greeting as life-like as possible Ne-Yo appears on a full-length vertical flat screen, a challenge DePalma Productions met head on by mounting the camera in a vertical position on a custom tripod head, much like a dutch head.
This allowed the camera to sit securely at a 90 degree angle. The camera was set to 4K resolution and shot at 23.98fps and we used a 24mm Canon lens for a realistic focal length of the human eye. We also mounted a 43″ 4K client monitor vertically for a similar representation of the final look.
In addition to the mechanical challenge of shooting vertically, from a visual standpoint we needed to work with the choreographer to make sure Ne-Yo had the amount of space he needed to show his dance moves, all the while keeping him in frame and at a distance that didn’t break the illusion of him actually standing there in front of visitors. Critical to this was the appearance of an infinite background which was achieved by shooting on a white cyc.
DePalma Productions is proud to have our work be part of such a prestigious museum which celebrates innovation and creativity, two characteristics we strive for in every one of our projects.
REESE'S Celebrates April Fools Early
March 27, 2018
Just in time for Easter we find our crew in Northvale, NJ where we have placed hidden cameras to see some locals’ reaction to an “eggs-periment” created by REESE’S. Unsuspecting customers looking to purchase eggs encountered a pleasant surprise when they opened the cartons and found that actual eggs had been switched for REESE’S Easter Peanut Butter Creme Eggs.
For our hidden cameras, we installed 3 GoPros at different angles, to get full coverage of the area. A Canon 5D with a 70-200 L-Series lens was used to capture the shoppers from a distance. Our video village was set up close by, so the cameras could be monitored at all times. This project was created in collaboration with Ketchum Studios.
Conductor Insights that drive content ROI
March 9, 2017
Conductor helps marketers make smarter decisions, which in turn helps marketers connect with customers faster. The company believes that the right combination of technology, services and thought leadership, Conductor users gain the advantage in a consumer-driven market.
This all sounds great, but how do you tell this story? You don’t. You show it.In a recent project, we partnered with Conductor to show their compelling value proposition: that great content must get found by customers.
To effectively capture that story, we carefully casted actors who we felt best portrayed the diverse Conductor staff. The cast and our crew came together in one of our favorite locations and our own backyard: New York City. We grabbed footage around the Concrete Jungle, including heading underground to the subway.
In just 86 seconds and without hearing a single word spoken, you can see the story and understand what Conductor is about.

Oh The Irony: DePalma Productions helps create humorous Tongue-in-Cheek”Ad” for Conductor, Inc.
It doesn’t take a marketing expert to know that with the exception of Super Bowl commercials, most consumers aren’t anxiously waiting for the next ad to appear on their screens, but billions of dollars is still being shelled out each year on advertising that is less and less effective.
If web-presence marketer Conductor, Inc. has its way, companies will be spending their dollars on becoming “smarter marketers”, namely incorporating demographics in such a way that customers organically find their products through channels where they are most likely to spend time, such as Pinterest, Instagram, Google, and Facebook.
Even “smart marketing” often relies on something for people to look at, so using the latest camera in its equipment arsenal, a SONY FS7, DePalma Productions shot the first two in a series of tongue-in-cheek “ads” for Conductor’s “Be A Smarter Marketer” campaign. In addition to shooting the live action, DePalma Productions secured both the location and on-air talent, and even directed the humorous 30-second spots.

Xbox One Launches in Times Square
August 2014
Manhattan, NY – The crowd had already been forming for over 24 hours when we arrived with our cameras at the Best Buy Theatre in Times Square. The long line of gaming enthusiasts were eagerly awaiting the launch of Xbox One, Microsoft’s new gaming system. Microsoft had a full day planned for their fans, leading right up until the official launch at midnight. If that wasn’t enough, the launch was to be kicked off with a free Macklemore & Ryan Lewis concert for anyone purchasing a day one system.
Larger than life billboards showed off game previews and flashed Xbox One logos over the crowd, making it clear that Microsoft had taken over Times Square, and once again DePalma Production’s crews were brought in to cover the event. Major Nelson, a celebrity amongst Xbox fans in the gaming community, was our on-camera host for the event. He showed off some of the amazing features of the new system.
When nightfall arrived, the crowd had already tripled. Now it was time for the real excitement. A procession of zombies from “Dead Rising 3,” Roman soldiers from “Ryse: Son of Rome,” and an assortment of exotic race cars from “Forza Motorsport 5” flooded the streets, followed by a series of armored trucks carrying the new consoles.
Our crews captured the event using multiple Canon 5D and Panasonic AF100 cameras. Portable, battery powered LED light panels were used to help light scenes, as the team moved from location to location. Meanwhile, 6 blocks from Times Square, in a remote edit suite, two editors were being fed the footage from our cameras, as well as various sources of footage from other crews covering this worldwide event. Multiple segments were shot, edited, and published to Microsoft’s YouTube page in real time, throughout the day.
Jim Norton PSA
Feb 2, 2014
Comedian Jim Norton is notorious for pushing the boundaries of political correctness and “good taste” in his dangerously funny live shows. So EPIX collaborated with Jim Norton to do the most envelope-pushing and ambitious On Air promo campaign they have done yet for an Original Comedy special. A cast of thousands (ok, 20-25 people but still) of all various ethnicities and demographics were brought in to do a mock Political Attack-Ad Campaign protesting the offensiveness of Jim Norton, including Jim Norton.
The United Hebrew Difference
October 24, 2013
Some may ask why it is important for organizations like United Hebrew to continue to grow. Well, currently, according to AARP, persons 65 years or older make up about 12.9% of the population, but are expected to grow to make up 19% of the population by 2030. It is also stated that approximately 7 out of 10 seniors will rely on some form of assisted living at some point.
Our recent work for United Hebrew, a retirement and rehabilitation facility, depicted the organizations growth and quality of care, with a focus on what makes them different. DePalma Productions had the privilege of assisting UH by creating a fundraiser video that will inspire others to help support this invaluable cause. In order to accurately represent the heart of United Hebrew, our team spent time with the organization’s leaders, caretakers, and residents, all of which opened up to share their story. Often times, people become more dependent on others for things they used to do on their own.
World War Z Red Carpet Premiere 5000!
June 17, 2013
On June 17, 2013, DePalma Productions was on the red carpet with Epix for the premier of World War Z. Times Square was illuminated by bright lights and floating cameras high above a crowd of thousands. Video billboards teased the crowd with previews from the upcoming film, while anticipation mounted for the arrival of global superstar Brad Pitt. Excitement was in the air as Brad gave us the inside scoop of what makes World War Z the summer movie to see!
Nissan ``Taxi of Tomorrow``
April 11, 2012
Nissan unveiled the NV200 earlier this year on the streets of NYC and DePalma Productions was one of the first fares picked up and able to ride along in the “Taxi of Tomorrow.”
DePalma Productions was on location shooting interiors and exteriors for the unveiling of the NV200 using the AF100 with Prime Lenses and HD Go Pro Cameras. LED Light Panels were used to help light the interviews, that were shot in a sun filled loft, overlooking Manhattan. Nissan won the bid to redesign the “Taxi of Tomorrow” 2 years ago. The NV200 will provide a more convenient service to more than 600,000 people who hail a cab in NYC each year and the cabbies who drive them. You can start to hail a Nissan NV200 in the Fall of 2013.

Filming Chatfield Farms for EG Homes
15 November, 2019
When EG Homes hired us to produce a video highlighting their exclusive community for active adults, 55 years of age or older, we knew it would be a great project from the moment we started talking to staff and homeowners alike. Plus, it’s always a bonus when you have a beautiful resort-like property to showcase. By seamlessly combining interviews with delighted residents, gorgeous footage of the well-appointed homes, and stunning aerial views, DePalma Productions created a piece that was more than simply informational – it was compelling.
