Helpmesee’s “Eye Opening” Video for Giving Tuesday
Chances are the closest most of us has ever been to doing something without seeing is the childhood game of Pin the Tail on the Donkey. But what about making a cup of coffee? Buying food from a street cart? Or crossing the street?
An estimated 22 million people worldwide dealing with cataract blindness face similar challenges every day – and Help Me See is determined to change that for those who need it most. This past December they released a special Giving Tuesday video created by DePalma Productions aimed at creating awareness in a very real way. Blindfolded participants quickly felt the anxiety of life without sight as they attempted to manage everyday tasks. Through “cue cards” and spoken words each shared their thoughts on the importance of giving back through participation in days like Giving Tuesday, a global initiative dedicated to doing just that.
From collaborating on message execution to shooting and editing the segment, DePalma Productions produced a compelling look into the issue of cataract blindness and highlighted HelpMeSee’s efforts to bring sight to hundreds of thousands in developing countries through their life-changing procedure.
